Reviews of the Hotel Saint Jean in Orange

A very bad experience for a hotel costing nearly €110 a night.

Even before our arrival, I called to ask about parking, as I hadn't received a reply to my message sent the day before via Booking.com. When I simply mentioned it over the phone, the person was particularly unpleasant and unprofessional. Unfortunately, the reception was just as bad: the staff were just as unpleasant, and I constantly felt like I was bothering them.

Another rather unbelievable thing: we were forbidden from adjusting the air conditioning. The reception explained that if we adjusted it ourselves, it could disrupt or stop the air conditioning in the rest of the hotel. As a result, the air conditioning was set very low, and we had no way to adjust the temperature in our own room. I travel regularly, and this is the first time I've ever heard such an explanation.

But the worst part was clearly the cleanliness of the room and the bathroom. Pubic hair on the floor, hair even on the toilet seat—I had to remove it before I could sit down—stains that looked like urine on the bathroom vanity, extremely dirty and blackened grout in places, especially around the shower. Under the bed, it simply didn't seem like the room had been cleaned: there was a significant accumulation of dust. On top of that, there were no hand towels. The attached photos show the overall state of maintenance.

I travel very regularly and I know perfectly well that a 2-star hotel offers more basic amenities. But 2 stars doesn't mean a lack of hygiene. A room can be basic yet perfectly clean, and the service can still be courteous.

At nearly €110 a night, I had never encountered such a low level of service. Between the extremely poor cleanliness, the dust accumulated under the bed, the inability to properly regulate the air conditioning, and the attitude of the reception staff, the value for money is, in my opinion, absolutely incomprehensible.

I absolutely do not recommend this establishment and I will not be returning.

Such a beautiful hotel! The owners are very friendly and helpful. Clean, comfortable rooms and excellent location to easily explore Orange. The homemade breakfast is a must have!

Great place, very nice hotel, very pleasant room. However, the receptionist shouldn't hesitate to change jobs if she's unhappy; there's no point in being unpleasant to customers, it just makes you never want to come back.
